Don’t Get Lemon – Have Some Shame

The second album by Don’t Get Lemon, “Have Some Shame,” is an amazing journey that combines effervescent synth-pop with the stomping beat of glam rock, and thus presents an album which both pays tribute to and reconceptualizes its genre foundations. The whole recording shines from the first song to the last, as it features well written lyrics and catchy vocal melodies. Thus, through guitars, synths and drums there’s something cohesive that feels old yet new at the same time because there is a link to 1980s music but it also brings in new elements.

“Have Some Shame” however stands out for its heart-to-heart approach; this nine –song forty-minutes journey into what band themselves baptized as “Heatwave.” Rather than the usual coldwave detached coolness, “Have Some Shame” brims with a blazing fervor similar to John Hughes’ soundtracks.

This album marks an important stride for Don’t Get Lemon as they encompass their past and present influences resulting in one thing only- something far beyond comparison that will definitely find its place on such playlists that are looking for some fresh ways how to make vintage vibes enter our lives again. And so we can see that this summer’s Midwest tour preparations will certainly be marked by ‘Have Some Shame’ a turning point in their musical career which ought not go unnoticed. You don’t just have to listen to this album; you must experience it because it will never leave you the same way again.
