Paul Ariss – How Can Anybody Take The Place of You?

Professional and talented singer-songwriter Paul Ariss just landed on our radar with his most recent single, “How Can Anybody Take The Place of You?” which introduces listeners to an enchanting mix of lyrics that touch the heart and catchy melodies that linger in the mind long after the song has ended.

Paul starts by creating a calm atmosphere with soft acoustic guitar chords that gently pave the way for his friendly and rich voice. As the song continues, other instruments gradually join in resulting in more layers of depth and emotion in the sound scape. The result is an arrangement that encourages listeners to swing their hips along to its irresistible rhythm such that it’s impossible not tap your feet or sway your head with the music as you listen to it.

The chorus emerges as the song’s centerpiece, leaving a memorable mark on the listener’s memory with its catchy lyrics and melodic hook. One of the strong points of this song is its universality given its ability to speak to everyone who has experienced changes in relationships. In one fell swoop, Paul captures what it means to be caught between wanting change but fearing losing yourself in trying so hard. That notion strikes a chord within us, hence giving the song more weight.

This new single “How Can Anybody Take The Place of You?” is a captivating musical offering that truly lingers on minds even after being played severally. This single is expected to make waves with its melodious tunes, touching lyrics and soulful delivery making Ariss one of the artists to watch in the music industry.

WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THE SONG:

“This song will quite likely resonate with a lot of people who go into a relationship but find they have to change to remain within that relationship. Often change is good, but other times it stifles someone’s true self. We do it others, and others do it to us, but both people can get lost along the way.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Paul Ariss, from just outside Liverpool, had an acoustic guitar hanging around like an unloved but loyal friend for for years whilst he continued writing scripts, which had him working on an acclaimed Channel 4 comedy-drama, and writing comedy on BBC radio shows.

All this changed in 2015 when, due to family circumstances, he could not devote as much time to script writing. Practising for just 15 minutes at a time Paul taught himself some chords and wrote his first solo song ‘BLINDED (Not Anymore)’. The song was chosen as a Song of the Week by an online radio station based in New York, and received a Highly Commended award in the 2018 UK Song-Writing Contest.

Since then ‘Your Truest Faith’, was chosen as Track Of The Week on Blues & Roots Radio in November 2020 and ‘King of Men’ was used by anti-bullying charity Bullies Out on all their social media platforms.

With songs produced by John Kettle of folk-rock band Merry Hell, Paul does vocals on most tracks, but also enjoys working with vocalists such as Chloe Pownall who features on his song ‘Is Never Me’.

Paul’s radio plays continued to grow and his latest track ‘BREAK THE CHAIN’, his 8th on Spotify, narrates Paul’s own struggles with social anxiety and suppression, and is likely to resonate with many.
