Through pulsating synth-pop rhythms and spacey atmospheres, the new song “Transfigured” by Spirits of Saturn takes listeners on a captivating journey. Established in 2022, the group unites Early Sans of Superorganism fame with Edmund Blackadder, Scott Docherty and Elian Lion to form it.
The neon tapestry of synthesizer and string melodies mesmerizes in this thumping synth-pop ballad “Transfigured”. The vocals are hauntingly beautiful with raw emotion that gives the track more dimension. It is a modern song with an edge of contemporary pop music based on 80s synths while still invoking nostalgia among today’s audience. What makes it different from other projects is its polished production value. Every instrument and sound has been chosen scientifically leading to a rich listening experience that envelops you. This track speaks about what happens after one has ended a romantic relationship.
“Transfigured” overall is not just a song; rather, it is an inquiry into sentiments and narratives driven by the visionary sound of Spirits of Saturn. Through their well-cobbled productions and innovative ways in dealing with synth-pop, they still can question what defines musical borders when doing each next piece.
ABOUT THE BAND:
Formed in 2022, Spirits of Saturn are sparked by the creative force of Superorganism member Early Sans (synths & vocals) together with Edmund Blackadder (vocals), Scott Docherty (keys & bass) and the distinct, moterik grooves of Elian Lion (drums). Whilst taking slight inspiration from Kraftwerk, Todd Rundgren, Daft Punk and Suicide, there is a future perfect disco pop feel to their synth led sound which brings a bright ray of hope amidst the current mood of doom, gloom and economic discontent.
Following two packed out debut shows in London early 2023, Spirits of Saturn embarked on a UK support tour with Temples taking them to legendary venues around the country, such as Koko, Brudenell Social Club, and Band on the Wall.
In March 2024 the band released their third single, ‘Transfigured’. ‘Transfigured’, the follow up to their debut ‘Feelings Agency’ and second single ‘100mph’, was recorded at Loop Studios in Manchester then mixed and mastered by Superorganism’s Tucan. A thumping synth pop ballad that oozes with synthesiser & string melodies weaving together like a neon tapestry, the song explores the mental processes following the dissolution of relationships. How one gains perspective through the passing of time and constructions of narratives whereby your emotions are transfigured. To coincide with the release of their new single, the band will headline London’s Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes, repped by Permanent Creeps.
