Ohio-born, Germany-based indie singer-songwriter Kathleen left us stuck on constant repeat with this beautiful masterpiece “Objectively”. The minute we heard Kathleen’s voice we fall in love with it and we couldn’t get it out of our heads. She has one of the best and most charming voices we’ve ever heard and her performance is more than professional. Every second of this song is a masterpiece and the atmosphere is very unique. Kathleen’s lyrics are honest and beautifully written and the production is on another level. She is a talented songwriter and her melodies are incredibly catchy. WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
“It’s easy to blame the other person in a breakup, but what about when your own complicity in a toxic dynamic comes to shake you awake? Objectively is about that haunting realization, soaring from a lilting acoustic opening to a full country-rock arrangement as the truth sets in.”
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Kathleen is that most fascinating of artists: one who had a life before music. Her rich experiences form the foundation for her work, which blends influences from country, rock, and R&B, but whose hallmark is her sharply observed, compelling lyrics.
Raised in Appalachia, Kathleen was always a thoughtful writer, winning short story competitions in her teens. An exchange year in Italy left her deeply curious about the world, and she had lived on three continents by the time she graduated college with a BA in philosophy. She began a career in NGOs, working with refugees in Los Angeles before relocating to Düsseldorf, Germany, where she earned her MBA.
All the while, Kathleen was writing music. Words and melodies about what was going on in her life would just come to her, and sometimes turn into complete songs, which she largely kept private. Outwardly, she dabbled in school theater and gave occasional vocal performances, as well as teaching herself guitar and piano, but she did not seriously pursue music until she woke up on her 29th birthday with the sudden fear that maybe she was running out of time to do so.
Kathleen began taking guitar lessons, and her teacher, impressed by her songs, encouraged her to connect with Pamela Falcon, a Düsseldorf-based voice teacher and industry veteran. Falcon in turn introduced Kathleen to German producers, leading to the release of Kathleen’s debut single, This Was Not Enough, in 2021.
