‘As Long As You’re There’ describes the various battles we may be faced with when struggling with our mental health. It draws from my own personal experiences following the loss of my brother; being confronted with random anxiety, a frustrating routine of being unhappy and difficulty sleeping, are just a few hardships that I’ve run into, but I know I’m not the only one.
But in defence of these barriers that may beat or even cripple us, the acknowledgment and acceptance that we may not be alright, can make us stronger. As long as we know there is love and support around us, we can conquer any battle that comes our way. As hard as it may be to have to fight a fight that we never wanted any part of, there will always be a helping hand to pull us back to our feet.
Thumping drums, screaming vocals and driving guitars act as the artillery for the battles we may encounter, with unrelenting force to overpower any storm that we may be forced to weather. But amongst our counter attack, we tell our foe that we’ll be okay. It may win the fight at times, but we will win the war.
