WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:

This is how Sara herself describes the song: “I could not stop thinking about that strange song I wrote together with Elias – a melancholic, complicated declaration of love for my hometown. A tribute to the culture I grew up with. To say that it also counts. We count. We exist. At the same time, I want to tell you about the alienation. About being different in the tiny community. About a constant search for more and a desire to fit in somewhere. It was time for me to own my story.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Dear Sara – the new unique voice from Sweden

Sara grew up on the northern border of Sweden, in a household of reindeer keepers. She’s part of an indigenous group called the Sámis, a native minority based in Sápmi – an area in the northern parts of Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Russia’s Kola peninsula. Sara’s dreams and talent took her all the way to Atlanta and LA, where she learned a lot about herself while collaborating with producers and songwriters in the music industry. It made her grow and taught her to give her own decisions time, which people she wanted to collaborate with and maybe the most important of all, to trust her gut feeling.

In 2020 she teamed up with FEM. and Northbound Music Group and debuted as the lead singer on JIM OUMA’s rebellious single ‘Kids’ featuring UK dancehall queen Alicaì Harley. The catchy song got shared by numerous media sites and has been used in 1400 videos created by TikTokers all over the world.

The major YouTube channel Cover Nation then showed great interest in the Swedish singer’s voice and shared Dear Sara’s take on Red Hot Chili Peppers’ hit from 1999 ‘Californication’ to their 1,7 million subscribers around the world.

Dear Sara will be launching her new music early 2021 starting with the powerful single “Something You Should Know”, written by herself and fellow Northbound-signed Elias Näslin, who recently got nominated for an American Grammy with his contribution “Slow Cooker” on John Legend’s latest album.

“Something You Should know” is accompanied by gorgeous visuals with Sara and beautiful landscape shots of the place which is closest to her heart, Sápmi. A true piece of mighty beauty inviting the listener to experience Sara’s inspiration for the song. More music and a debut EP to be released 2021.
