We can’t get enough of this song “Long Way From Your Heart,” by the Canadian Indie Rock/Alternative band Shred Kelly. We are not sure if we could find the right words to describe how unique and brilliant this song is. The story behind this track is sad but the tune is upbeat which creates some unique atmospheres around while you are listening. Upon hearing this song for the first time we really knew that it will be the best choice for our followers and we were pretty sure that all of you will love it. The lead singer Tim Newton’s voice is a piece of art, it’s wonderful and so enjoyable and the melodies are so catchy. The production choices were smart and so professional. “Long Way From Your Heart,” was definitely a great experience for our team.
WHAT THE BAND SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
This song is about the moment lead singer Tim Newton got a phone call that his father had passed away at home after battling an illness at home.
When Tim was a kid his dad used to always say “It’s a long way from your heart” when Tim would hurt himself.
He imagined his dad saying that very phrase as he broke down about the news about his passing. The irony that the pain he felt was right in the heart.
An upbeat tune, because Bud Newton would have never liked a sad song to be written about him.
ABOUT THE BAND:
Shred Kelly is a five piece, alternative folk rock band that emerged from the heart of the Canadian Rockies in 2009. Over the past decade the band have taken their highly energetic live show from humble beginnings on the Canadian ski-town circuit to the international stage.
“Their shows are joyous celebrations of life that will only reaffirm most of the things you love about music.” (Rice and Bread Magazine)
The band’s striking and energy-packed sound has evolved from their eclectic musical influences and their unique experiences and individual backgrounds. Their progressive pairing of acoustic instrumentation with electric counterparts, harmonies, and driving rhythm, continues to develop and reach new heights.
Their latest album ‘Like A Rising Sun’, produced by Nygel Asselin and mixed by Ben Kaplan, is the group’s fifth offering and their most raw autobiography. This album is an honest reflection of band members personal experiences of starting a family, losing a loved one, and coming out on the other side forever changed. With such upheaval comes an outpouring of explosive, fast-paced, and anthemic acoustic rock.
Over the years, Shred Kelly has had the opportunity to perform across Canada and internationally at festivals such as Reeperbahn Festival, Australian Music Week, Folk Alliance, SXSW, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, Mariposa Folk Festival, SKOOKUM Festival, and Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival. Shred Kelly has received one Western Canadian Music Award and three Kootenay Music Awards in addition to a nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year in 2018 at The Western Canadian Music Awards.
