The Canadian artist Tor (aka tiny bill cody) shared with us a new song titled ‘Call of the Wild’ from his EP “the devil will give you candy“ and upon hearing it for the first time we immediately got hooked. His voice is rich and a piece of art and his performance is more than professional which shows how talented he is. His melodies are definitely beautiful and unique. The lyrics are catchy and original and we have enjoyed listening to his song until the last second without getting bored at all. We hope that you will enjoy ‘Call of the Wild’ as much as we do.
WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
“There’s this song called ‘The Golden Vanity’ about a scrawny kid with an auger who jumps in the water and bores holes in an enemy’s boat in order to save his ship and win the hand of his captain’s daughter. His captain then refuses to bring the kid back on board. And so the kid, realizing he can just as easily take down his own ship, instead decides to accept his crappy fate. It’s bleak, but I do like the idea of heroism as a sequence of quiet, diligent, simple maneuvers combined with a good set of principles, and a willingness to reconcile with whatever are its unknown consequences.”
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
tiny bill cody is the performance alter ego of Tor Lukasik-Foss, a Canadian artist whose creative practice has integrated music, performance, storytelling and visual art. He has therefore existed in a variety of places, with a spectrum of collaborators, and in varied configurations for over two decades, in solo shows, fringe musicals, country music reviews and performance art operas. Throughout it all, he has written songs. They begin usually with voice and a percussive guitar; they tell about the human experience as it succumbs to an inevitable procession of minor sins, private ambitions, subtle fears, fragile humiliations, and tiny levities. They graft themselves onto the roots of sturdier rhythms and traditions in order to be more widely understood. They don’t know where they belong.
