WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
“Shutdown explores my uninhibited rebel side because I was born to be this way. There is a rebellion within a dystopian society. I love the movies Blade Runner, the matrix and THX 1138. Their delivery of a dynamic portrayal of a dystopian world entices my imagination. When the big one finally hits (the comet, a tsunami, an earthquake, an atomic bomb) the technology that supports the world we currently live in collapses. The society that raised me has overindulged in psychological warfare, racism, bigotry, and prejudice infecting the world I inhabit BUT this is only possible by the technology that supports it. If I am to be free, accountability and responsibility are key. In order to invoke this alternative, a catastrophic event needs to occur or the collapsing one’s own enabling system to expedite the “Shutdown”.”
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The Sweet Kill is a one-man dark pop synth project swelling with emotion. The diviner of this millenarian angst is lead-singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Pete Mills; who portrays toxic love, desperation, and redemption from the throes of addiction. After the suicide of his bandmate, and personal battles with addiction, Pete speaks of liberation from inner demons.
The Sweet Kill delivers an atmospheric quietus and infectious hooks similar to Awolnation and MGMT, matched with the bulletproof production of The Cure and Nine Inch Nails. The latest releases feature the drumming of Darren King (Mutemath), mixer Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (Marilyn Manson) and co-producer Voli (Bebe Rexha).
