We love this new single from Rotana, ‘Bad Weather‘. It’s a charming and dreamy new record that gives off impressions of electro, ideal for anyone who enjoys lush sound design and electronic vocal top-lines. The production carries an atmospheric drive that’s tightened up with Rotana‘s vocal production, creating this dream-like experience as you listen to the song. It’s a soothing record and we’re confident you’ll love it just as much as we do.
Rotana was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, with a big following in the Middle East, she is one of the only female musicians from the Arab region. Her music revolves around the feeling of a “delayed adolescence” learning boys, sex, self-governance, addictive patterns and freedom.
Enter the demo love series: a collection of five love songs as raw, unfinished demos. “Bad Weather” is the third of the five. The demos are intentionally unfinished. “I wanted to share my process. I wanted to show myself and the world that things can be messy and unfiltered but still so powerful. This is also an act of freedom for me. Freedom to be ordinary, to just play and talk about things other than protest.”
